Re: BlueDV Windows for ThumbDV

Christopher Poelker

I am brand new to the world of HAM radio and digital radio in general, and have found BlueDV to be the simplest and best way to get involved with DMR and D-Star. In fact, it was BlueDV which enabled me to have my first HAM QSO contact and conversation!

The product is pure genious! I will be contributing $ to your efforts. Thanks David. 73.

Hello All,

Some news. Before end of this month I will deploy a new version of BlueDV Windows. This version supports Fusion RX and TX on YSF and FCS.
Sound quality is very nice on RX and TX! I also improved the sound quality on DMR RX in this new version.
At this moment I am struggling a lot to get the application certified so you do not get the unknown publisher errors anymore.

Fusion on BlueDV Android is not available in TX mode. I can give it a try this summer, but I am always struggling with data types in Java. Also time is an issue because all of my projects and private life.

Thanks David, for your work on this project.  During this period of social distancing, we at the Rochester Amateur Radio Association have been meeting on ZOOM discussing how to use digital modes.  BlueDV for Windows has been a great asset to show how things work and talk about making connections.  We can all see the screen and hear the audio by sharing the desktop and BlueDV screen.  Thanks and 73, KC2NM

I only found HBlink example ..  Could not rename it after  making the one line change

Re: Absolute beginner Thumb-dv

You should have been able to rename the file. There's no reason why it would not rename. Did you get my separate post about how to do this, by right-clicking on the file in the file explorer, and choosing "rename" from the popup context menu? That should work. When it "lights up" the name and puts your cursor there, just right-arrow to the end of the name past the ".example" and backspace over it so it just says "HBlink.txt", then press enter.

Alternatively, when you have added the line, click on "File", and choose "Save As..." from the pull down menu, then save it as HBlink.txt and click OK.

You need to select software to use. I recommend BlueDV for Windows. Do a Google search, easy to find. Install the software. Launch the software, go into setup. Look under com port and see if it sees the com port.

Did you edit HBLink.txt or HBLink.txt.EXAMPLE?

You have been a great help . Unfortunately adding that line to HBlink and saving then restarting  the  blue dv  did not add tgif to the choices . I could not for example  change " descriptive , " example" in the HB links  comments section .

Re: Absolute beginner Thumb-dv

In File Explorer, when you RIGHT-click on a file, you get a menu of options. "Rename" lets you change the filename, what you're calling its description. You'll need to open that file in Notepad as I said, then copy this: TGIF, 74.91.125.81, passw0rd, 62031 and paste it on its own new line at the bottom of the file. Then save the file and restart BlueDV. That's when you'll see the option for TGIF in the DMR+ pull-down pick list in the middle of the setup screen.

I don't know how to explain it better than this, I'm sorry.
