Down load free program Telegram and after setting up go to Dvmegabot group. Tell them what you are doing and someone should be able to help you. I'm away from home right now out camping so a bit limited to help I could provide you.

Thank You

Change your dmr type to “BM” and use your security password if you’re planning to use the Brandmeister network. Also did you activate the hotspot security on the brandmeister site?

John,
First, let me say thank you for your reply. Second I was under the understanding that each ThumbDV from NW-Digital gives you two channels each so I was expecting to see 4 channels, not just two.
Things seem to be working because when I goto xlx817.w4fe.com A and transmit I do see both USB dongles light up. I also see

The DV3000/PiDV. I was planning on doing a short segment about AMBE Server on the RPi, since it's been a while since I've done anything with AMBE on Linux.
I'm going to demonstrate with the ThumbDV after I get the PiDV running

So what device are you trying to access?

Thanks John.
I may have a bad SD card... I'm trying (another) new one (It won't even format anymore).
I suspect that the Raspberry Pi Foundation's memory cards aren't 100% QC'd.

Re: ambeserver-install -Has anyone run the Simple Install lately?

Hi Mike,

Just went through the install steps on my Pi 400 to verify.

It looks like you may be having problems with apt ... did you try a sudo apt update before the install attempt? If that doesn't do it, try sudo apt purge git && sudo apt install git

Re: Multiple ThumbDV

It looks to me like it is recognizing two ThumbDV™s  each with its own serial number.

How does it respond to ambedtest? https://github.com/LX3JL/xlxd/tree/master/ambedtest

If the ThumbDV™s individually pass tests, then you need to look at ambed with support from its author.

Hi Paul,

I think your hotspot security is turned on. See this document: https://news.brandmeister.network/configure-a-security-password-for-your-hotspots/

Re: Trying to talk to DVSI's USB-3000 dongle with a raspberry pi!

 Modified from the README.md file
sudo systemctl disable ambeserver@ThumbDV
sudo systemctl stop ambeserver@ThumbDV
sudo systemctl enable ambeserver@ttyUSB0
sudo systemctl start ambeserver@ttyUSB0
sudo systemctl status ambeserver@ttyUSB0

ah so i *am* on the right path it seems, i did see the -s flag, got side tracked, forgot about it. thanks for that!

ok last (maybe dumb) question  - assuming i want to continue starting with the ambeserver-ttyusb.conf file, how can i get it to default to that file? it seems like when i reboot my pi3 it tries to default to the thumbdv.conf file and then fails. i can restart it with the usb with the manual systemctl commands, but is there a way to get it to default to this, or would that just be a matter of making a code change and recompiling?

thanks again. this is all new to me.
