In cursory tests, I cannot reproduce it here. Buster does log a lot of information to the “Console” application in the /Applications/Utilities directory. You can take a look there to see if maybe it’s dumping out something interesting that I can look at for you.

I have installed on MacOS Sierra and upgraded to High Sierra. Everything works as expected. Buster  works correctly on both versions.

Re: ambeserver on Raspian Jessie with ThumbDV locks BlueDV on receive after having changed UDP Port

Test your using ambeserver using the ambesocktest -- https://nw-digital-radio.groups.io/g/ambe/wiki/AMBEserver-Addendum#Testing-the-AMBEserver  (Edit the port number in the script) -- If it passes that test, the server is running properly on the designated port.

All other functions are within the calling program, eg BlueDV or Buster or ...

I have tried to apt-get autoremove and install it but it all went to this state after having changed the port number. It happens as well on DSTAR< I tried it on REF001E.

I am planning on wiping it all and redo everything, just want to know what I did wrong to avoid the mistake.

Re: Special Discount on Purchase of Multiple ThumbDV

Another quick note:

PiDV is not supported by ambed  (It only uses 460800 baud and can't get the Product Description)
Very Old ThumbDVs that run at 230400 baud will not work with ambed (though with some hacking of the software they might)

If your ThumbDV is a model 'A' (runs at 460800 baud) it should work fine, and you do need 2 or more to use ambed as a transcoder.

Thanks for the quick response. The PIDV and Thumbdv are great products. The pidv works great as a remote server with the Bluedv client.

In the ambed documentation it talks about using a FTDI program to change the Product Description on the ThumbDV.  This is a Windows program and can be used.  An open source Linux program also works and can be found at https://github.com/richarde oin/ftx-prog

Do not change the PID or VID (Product ID and Vendor ID) as that is what the OS uses to load the right driver.

You can change the Product Description and Manufacturer.

Until the mainline code puts in the pull request, building ambed from github source, you will need to edit the source (just 2 lines) before compiling so it will recognize the ThumbDV Product Description.

Factory units will have
Manufacturer:  NW Digital Radio MM/YY (where MM/YY is the production date, leave off for your ThumbDV)
Product: ThumbDV

Re: Special Discount on Purchase of Multiple ThumbDV

Here is the documentation to setup ambed for the XLX reflector - https://github.com/LX3JL/xlxd/tree/master/ambed

Note: New ThumbDVs have the Product Description set to ThumbDV and a tested pull has been submitted for inclusion.

Do you need information beyond this?

Special Discount on Purchase of Multiple ThumbDV

There are some projects that are using multiple ThumbDV™ to handle transcoding digital voice data from one protocol to another.

In support of these projects NW Digital Radio is offering a 5% discount on the purchase of 2 or more ThumbDV™ on the same order, to the same address, through the end of 2017.

To receive this discount, simply order 2 or more ThumbDV™ and in the shipping cart input the coupon code transcode and the discount will be applied to your order.

If purchasing more than 10 items (ThumbDV™ or UDRC) on the same order, contact sales@... to inquire about quantity discounts.

Re: BlueDV for Android and ThumbDv

Code is not finished yet. Have to remove my call from code.. Everything is hard coded now. When done, I will post here.
Please understand that I can not support this version. BlueDV is all made in my private time.

Re: BlueDV for Android and ThumbDv

Hi George,

Not officially. I have a separate version where I can make a DSTAR QSO with.
No hang timer, no DMR.. Only AMBEServer. Just for fun..
It's fun on WIFI, not fun on 4G because of large data.
