That is the same issue I was having. Send it in to NW Digital and have them check it out.
They found the chip to be defective and simply replaced it.

Thanks for the replies guys. Operator error here.  I had the right com port (thumbtest worked remember) but I filled it in the wrong box on the setup.
Now the problem I have is that while I hear the "over-beeps" and connect/disconnect "boop" I don't get any audio when people are talking.
Or I get little random noises.  I could record them if that would help.
But, in any case, I am not getting voice out of my PC speakers. And when I click the PTT ("on the air" slider) it is seen to transmit for only about 1 second (as viewed from the receiving end).

The other thing I noticed is that sometimes I have to unplug and re-plug the device to get it to talk to the program (after a setup change for example).

I am wondering if the inability to make and decode audio might mean I have a bad device?

Full disclosure: I also run a Freestar homebrew repeater here on the same network, so there may be some port conflict issues ... although ... I have run the OpenSpot device here without problems on all three of its modes.  I have an internal reflector (does not go through the firewall) and I figured if I connect to that then no port conflicts should happen.

By the way Ken,  Northwest Digital stands behind their product very well. I just saw Gordons response which
was also a very good response.

We hope you get it working. Just to let you know I have an Icom ID 51A I could use here locally through
the repeater we have in our local area. However I find myself using the ThumbDV 100 % of the time that is how
good it works when functioning right.

Is the Thumbdv brand new? Is your internet connection high speed. Is the USB port supplying the right power. If you are daisy chaining it try direct connecting it.
Also if Windows 10 1709 version might be Windows. Is BlueDV installed correctly?

I had a similar problem months ago. I finally had to ship it to Northwest digital. They found out the chip was bad and they sent me a new one.

I have been using ever since and it works great. Try the steps I gave you 1st and see if it fixes it.

Once windows 10's port is set properly for the ThumbDV you'll have tell BlueDV for Windows what com port to look for and all of your other information it needs to know.

Hello David and group,

I've just tested my OTG / charger unit on my Moto G5 Android phone, which has the same USB plug than my Asus Windows tablet (I believe they are called micro USB port).

When I plugged it, the phone's charging icon lit up, so it was charging.
I've plugged USB pen drive on one of the 4 USB ports, and the phone recognized it as storage, I was able to browse the files on the pen drive from the phone, and the charging icon was still lit during that time, so it seems that it should work as expected.

The only possible problem I see is that the ThumbDV might draw more current than the USB pen drive; but I guess that if the OTG / charger unit is plugged on a good high current 5 volts USB transformer, it would be good enough to give enough current to drive the ThumbDV and to charge the phone.
Anyhow, it worked in my case, the Moto G5 was charging and I was able to browsw a USB pen drive at the same time.

BTW, the 3 position switch on the OTG / charger it to make it compatible with a majority of devices.  In my case, I've left the switch on position 2, which is the same than my Asus Windows tablet.

If you want me to test your APK with it, my offer still stands.  I could do the test and video record it so that you can see what I did and the results. Just say so if you want me to.

I have a Moto G5 Android phone that has also the same USB connector than my tablet.
BlueDV AMBE is already loaded on my phone and working great.
I could try to test this new version with my OTG charger on my phone and ThumbDV, to check if it would charge the phone and give power to the dongle at the same time,if you would want.

So when you connect this OTG HUB to your phone or tablet and power it with a 5V power supply the phone or tablet will charge?

Hi all,

Good news. I managed to connect my ThumbDV directly to my Android device so no AMBEServer needed anymore. The sound is amazing!

https://youtu.be/FMtZkeXP4yg

The downside is that the ThumbDV drains your battery. After 45 minutes the battery is low and can't give enough power to the ThumbDV.
This version is NOT available yet! First I want to find an OTG cable that powers the phone and the ThumbDV. ( will make new thread with my used OTG cables that did not work )
