Unfortunately it doesn´t helped. I have checked my power supply it provides 2.5A  and than I put the ThumbDV in a 3.0 USB HUB with external power supply.

Maybe it is a problem with the BlueDV AMBE Software for Android by PA7LIM. I will deinstall it now and look what happens.

This is a likely explanation.

Thanks for your reply Jeremy. But i don´t geht the point :(. Problem is that the service stops itself and i don´t know why.  What I did is using the THUMBDV via the BLUEDV Android App, But it also stops itself when i dont do anything.

there is something between 09:4:10 and 15:36:02 i don´t get. Sorry have no ideas. I can´t measure power consumption of the THUMBDV Stick, I could plug it into a external powered usb 3.0 hub. But up to my knowledge the raspi 3 has usb 3.0 ports which provide enough power? I also run a SharkRF Openspot in the same network, but it is on a different port as i know.

Re: ThumbDV & RaspiPi runs not stable

Annaliese McDermond

The start of every packet from the ThumbDV starts with a 0x61 byte. If AMBEServer cannot find that byte in any of the responses, it errors out. This is usually due to errors in AMBEserver by hand and it’s still running?

Unfortunately the AMBEserver stops sometimes and it only helps to stop&start the service.

Hello John,

any documentation/website you can refer to me?

Tnx .... Tom VE3NY

Re: ThumbDV & Raspberry Pi

It is possible but you also need PTT.

DummyRepeater will take a GPS pin for PTT.

Tnx for the steer, Randy. Does this mean that I can use some form of sound usb to allow send and receive of audio from the RPi?? I am trying to find a way to use RPi/TDV as standalone connection to the network. Does this only work for D-Star? or is there a way to connect with DMR networks as well?

Re: ThumbDV & Raspberry Pi

Hello John,

I don’t have to use Pi-Star. I am interested in using RPi with ThumbDV. Can you point me to documentation that describes how to configure dummy repeater, ThumbDV + AMBEserver (if that’s what I should be looking for)? I’ve been grazing on web but haven’t discovered this information yet.

Tnx .... tfc

ThumbDV + AMBEserver on Linux, IPv6 Problem

oliver@...

I have set up an AMBEserver with ThumbDV on Linux according to the instructions provided. Under IPv4 it is working like charm. Unfortunately, my ISP now assigns only IPv6 addresses (reachable from outside my private network). Would it be possible to modify the AMBEserver software to support IPv6?  Over the the time (less and less IPv4-Adresses) this otherwise might become a major problem.

Re: ThumbDV, BlueDV, and Windows 10? Help!

I think the message is correct.
The parameter is wrong.
I believe you need to type
COM12
not just 12

Re: ThumbDV, BlueDV, and Windows 10? Help!

Jack Mandelman

Please forgive my ignorance.  I typed 12 instead of COM12.  When I typed COM12 for the port it worked OK!

Re: ThumbDV, BlueDV, and Windows 10? Help!

The com port value should be COM12, not 12 -- just like the example COM1 in the prompt.

Unplug and replug the ThumbDV before testing again.  Make sure the Device Manager lists the ThumbDV at the COM port you select.
