Everything seems to work here as expected... what isn't working specifically, maybe I can help to replicate it here.

the issue has nothing to do with brandmeister because the program Bluedv does not detect the dongle even though the com driver appears on the system
the blueDVambeserver detects the ambe and works perfectly everything has happened after the big update of windows 1800 yesterday

I'm running BlueDV and using ThumbDV USB-dongle in my Crosslink Node. Attached is a screenshot of the configuration, I hope this can help in your trouble shooting.

My link connects the BrandMeister channel 24499 to the Zello channel 'OH3NFC Crosslink' and to IRN channel 'OH3NFC - Finnish Hub' and the EchoLink node OH3NFC-L. I got it up and running this week. BTW, PTT-control is done without VOX, com0com and hub4com is used instead.

Re: Not recognised.

Yes, they are tested before shipping. Current product runs at 460k8 Baud. The original units ran at 230k4 so there is an app setting for baud rate.

I go into device manager and change the baud rate of the port to match BlueDV. Still doesn't see the stick. I try a Windows 10 Laptop. Same story. I try a Mac, buster doesn't see the stick. Does NW Digital test these things before they send them out? Is there something obvious I am missing?

I had the same problem with a ThumbDV stick in a Flex 6500. Wouldn’t work. Determined the problem was lack of solid 5V to power the stick. Fixed by using a powered USB hub. This might be a problem on other platforms.

When you plug in the ThumbDV it should appear as a new serial port under Device Manager, note which COM port it is on, and remember new ThumbDV™ are at 460800 baud (older models are at 230400). There is a very simple test program for verifying operation under Windows.  It can be found at https://nw-digital-radio.groups.io/g/ambe/files/  — it is called ThumbTest.exe

Yes you are missing the driver. go to garage and download the driver.  You can also download BlueDV server and BlueDV Ambe and use yourThumbdv  on an android phone from anywhere.  Check it out

[Moderator note:  Windows 10 and MacOS should already have the proper FTDI driver for the ThumbDV.  As far as the operating system and applications are concerned this is just a USB Serial device.]

Re: Not recognised.

Yes, the units are tested before shipping, but no process is 100%. It is very rare that a unit reaches the field and is not working properly.  (In fact, failure rate in testing is extremely low.)

As Fritz documented, there is a test program, please give it a try.

Your ThumbDV is covered by a satisfaction guaranteed warranty.  If it is found to be defective, we apologize, and if so, please contact sales@... for warranty coverage.

Be advised that this week is Hamvention, and the response may require a little longer to process due to travel.

BlueDV setup is documented in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=291k3VxJCv0

Re: XC-3006 Moves to Production

Software testing has gone well.  Hundreds of thousands of packets from ambedtest on all 6 streams.

There are a few hardware validation tests to be done.  Barring any unforeseen issues, would expect shipments to go out following Hamvention, which is next weekend.
