I understand that there is no support for the Android apps you have developed. 😊

I just wanted to check that I haven't overlooked the obvious.

With regards to Blue DV and BlueDV AMBE (early access), is YSF the only connection mode capable to connect to

XLX301 in Australia?

Also, I gather users can't initiate an update to their hosts files themselves as they may be hard coded to each version that is released?

Basically I would just like to know if there a way I could add a DSTAR repeater to these Android apps? -eg VK1RWN

We concurrently use this repeater to assist a local digi net held by Rob Smith VK2HR -XLX301,

with the Blue DV and Blue DV AMBE and Peanut to slowly familiarise non starters to be interested in digital modes other than DSTAR.

Any assistance would be gratefully received.

Re: trying to get my THumb-dvs to run on my pi?

Patrick Perdue

I had problems powering more than one ThumbDV from a PI 3 (not 3 b plus) without a powered hub. This after including max_usb_current in /boot/config.txt, which I believe is no longer relevant with newer boards.

I could use one at a time, but the first wouldn't be recognized anymore when I installed the second. A powered hub fixed this problem. I'm currently using those dongles on an old Mac Mini, which is now running Debian. It works fine on that host without a hub. My XLX reflector is connecting to AMBE remotely. My system gets very little D-Star traffic compared to other modes (mostly Allstar and EchoLink these days, with occasional DMR or YSF), so the transcoders don't have much to do lately. It seems to work fine when it's needed, though.

My Pi would go into a boot loop with the ThumbDV in its USB port directly, but boots fine with it in a powered hub. Go figure. Maybe not all Pi's have the same power available. Mine's a Pi 3.

I think Bryan probably has better information to give you.

That's correct, you use a radio to connect to a dmr repeater.  With bluedv you are using the internet and can only connect to talk group of choice.

I am trying to use the Blue DV on DMR +. Have the registration done and don't see anything like local repeaters, but all ISPC-2 links with a state.
I live in Central Texas and see there is an ISPC-2 Texas but it's not in the link. I did all the updates but same listing.
I have tried Phoenix, Minnesota, Illinois, Quadnet and others but don't work well.

Looking for thoughts on how to add a local repeater that maybe DMR if possible in config file, or what is required and
password if needed for the ISPC-2 Texas to add it to the configure file, or a good repeater that will provide good DMR +
or if need to switch back to DMR but still have the same repeater list.

Maybe reflectors, but don't know anything about them or how to set it up. I enjoy Talk Group 3148 and other local ones here.

Any thoughts or help is appreciated. Randy N5YTT

The ThumbDV requires less than 200mA. I power mine on a Pi powered by DRAWS with no issues.

installing the FTdio drivers for my THumb DVs?

Folks,
I’m trying to get my THumbDvs working with my Pi4, and I’m working through the instructions on n5amd.com.  Is there a way to install the FTDIO drivers from the command line?  I’m currently using the latest build of Buster on the pi.
