bluedv ambe bluetooth PTT speaker / mic

Mike Moore

I am running bluedv ambe mobile on my cell phone using thumbdv and ambeserver from my home network.  I have an iTalkie Bluetooth Speaker / Mic.  The audio works fine but not the PTT function.  Does anyone have any tips about integrating iTalkie daemon for bluedv?  Is there a better forum for this question? 73, KC2NM

Joe,

A little more information is needed if you want to be able to help people help you.

Are you listening and receiving on DMR, DStar or YSF?

What program are you using? BlueDV?

What are your settings in your program?

I am primarily a HF operator and know about zero about DMR, Fusion and Dstar.  I do have a DMR ID. I just upgraded from 9570 to 9581, but is the same issue.

Would someone be willing to call me and educate me on how all this works.

Re: BlueDV Windows for ThumbDV

Hello Dave,

BlueDV is written in .NET and only works with the Windows soundcard.

I am working now on the Android version ( written in Java ). Lot of work to do… But I think this is going to work!

David,

Thank you for providing an updated Windows version which includes support for Fusion.

Just wondering for those of us using Linux.... Do you have any plans to provide the same update to Linux users?

Thanks for all that you do.

Well - I can attest that the new BlueDV and my old ThumbDV work perfectly on my OLD original Surface!! Running Windows 8.1 Pro. DMR and DStar sound and work great!!

As an FYI - and you all probably know this - BlueDV with the ThumbDV sound and work PERFECTLY on the Amazon Fire 8 HD!!

Battery time is similar to watching movies about 6 hours - maybe longer on Dim! Awesome DMR setup!!

I don't use PI-STAR, David. I am connecting over my home LAN to a Raspberry Pi, but it is only running AMBEServer and a dynamic DNS updater daemon for my ThumbDV. The IP address is the URL for the dynamic DNS pointer to the ThumbDV. I'll look for a UPNP setting in what I've got, but I don't remember seeing that. (Yeah, I don't see a UPNP option anywhere.)

Hi Gwen,

Never seen this. When you also use PI-STAR, disable UPNP. Maybe this will solve the strange behavior.

I know about FCS00199. This is an issue on the reflector. The parrot on YSF is working 100%.

I've been using it since yesterday when I saw it posted, and it works really well. I even checked into the WIRES-X Net and the only comment I got was that my audio was a bit hot, so I backed it down. But there were a couple of relatively minor things I spotted.

Test notes for BlueDV 1.0.0.9581

- When keyed down and transmitting, the Fusion status box lights red intermittently, though
transmission is constant. This is at odds with receive activity, where the status box is lit
continuously on receiving another station. When sending, though the On Air legend at the lower
right is constant, the red light on the FUSION call status box is not constant. It turns on
and goes off seemingly at random. Linked to YSF AmericaLink at the time.

- Sometimes, during a long transmission, while experiencing the intermittent red status box, if I pause

for a moment, the box will light up red and I'll hear the tail end of my own transmission. Just a split second

of it, not the entire thing. It's hard to reproduce. This might point at the intermittent red box issue being

somehow connected to whether or not the user is speaking or pausing. VOX is OFF. I never use VOX.

It's pure conjecture, but maybe something is accidentally calling the VOX routine under some circumstances?

- Connected to FCS00199 (Echo), the Call line in the FUSION status box shows random characters
instead of a call sign or ID. This looks very odd. This did not happen on YSF AmericaLink,
where it showed my call sign. Haven't tried to reproduce this.

Even without Pi-Star, the tools are very useful. Notably, the YSF and FCS reflector lists under YSF and FCS Tools. There are also some useful tools for DMR and D-Star. You'll find at least names, numbers, and short descriptions of the various reflectors.

A quick-start for a decent Fusion reflector is AmericaLink. I have that set as my default. It has lots of people to talk to, and even a good net on Saturdays (Wires-X Net), I think around 2000 ET. I happened across it last Saturday, and it was fun. There's tons of other reflectors out there, and you won't lack for people to talk to.

I love my thumbdv as well.  But, I was one of the lucky ones.  Someone gave it to me in a box of "computer junk".  Said it was a thumb drive but he could never get it to show up on his computer to save files to it.  After researching it out I found what it really was and have been enjoying it ever since.  Guy didn't want any of it back.  Great day for me.

Re: order

Tim, did you see the email that went out saying that, because of the big SALE they had, they were currently OUT of stock, but were getting more made? *I* saw it. Others saw it. I'm sure you'll get your tracking number when they have something to actually SHIP to you. Show some patience. It helps in ham radio, because nothing is further from "instant gratification" than sitting at your rig, pounding out "CQ CQ CQ..." a hundred times.

So count to ten, eat a hamburger, and CHILL.
