Hi Dev, as you remember before you compile (with make and make install)
you had edit the ambeserver.c file with a editor (as root) to
change in it the baudrate ( maybe you have), on one of the
following line you can also change the port. Change them also and
the baudrate and compile again ( with make and make install) B.r. Stefan DL1ESZ Am 30.01.19 um 14:05 schrieb Dev

Thank you Frank for your very prompt response.. It seems as though you might be using Compass Linux. Unfortunately, I'm using Raspian Stretch., so there is no opendv folder and neither am I seeing any ambeserver-ttyUSB0.conf file to edit. Thanks again buddy...73 Dev, 9Y4DG

Jorge is right -- you'll have to contact David PA7LIM to coordinate that with him. He'll have to add your server into his network. Sorry again that we seem to be having some difficulties communicating. I hope David can help you get that set up. 73, Gwendolyn Patton, NG3P

Hi Dev, If you are admin of XLX299 contact David (

Thank you for your suggestion, but I already use BlueDV. I would like to link XLX 299 Module R to Peanut so that anyone using Peanut would have access to that reflector. Thanks again...Dev, 9Y4DG

Well then, just pop over to the play store and get BlueDV AMBE. That's the correct client app, not Peanut.

Yes Sir...a ThumbDV is connected to the AMBE Server... That's how I can work DMR and DSTAR from anywhere. But I agree with you that I should have mentioned that in the original post. Thank you for your response......73 de Dev, 9Y4DG.

Do you have an AMBE device connected to that Pi, like a ThumbDV? AMBEServer doesn't work by itself, I don't think. It needs an AMBE chip in a piece of hardware to do the coding and decoding.
Peanut is a VERY limited app that runs on David PA7LIM's servers, on the reflectors he's configured. You can't change them, I don't think. You'd need your own AMBE device on that AMBEServer, and then BlueDV AMBE for Android to connect to it. You can use Peanut without a server of your own, you're just limited to the reflectors and rooms David set up. His servers have AMBE devices on them that handle the part you're missing. I have a ThumbDV on a Pi running AMBEServer, and BlueDV AMBE on my phone and my Inrico T320, and it works just like you want. But unless you've got some hardware for AMBE you didn't include in that post, you're missing some pieces. Perhaps this? http://nwdigitalradio.com/product/thumbdv/ If I'm mistaken, anyone please chime in. Gwen, NG3P

Re: ThumbDV / ambed / AMBEServer reliability on Raspberry Pi 2 ?

Hi,

As far as Raspberry Pi in general, many of these issues are power supply related, both voltage (there is a drop through many leads and current output. I would review my power supply first. Yes, I'm aware of power supply problems. I usually use commercial 5V power supplies, or DC-DC converters from 12V. Here, it's just a test setup. And in order to avoid power problems, I'm using two official Rspberry Foundation power supplies, with their attached power cord. About USB cords, I really understood that when I bought a tiny USB voltmeter/ammeter on a famous Chines marketplace. This clearly shows USB cords are not equal. And even "branded" cords have very thin copper gauge, which generates huge voltage drops. I usually buy my USB cords from the brand "Aukey", which has serious 20AWG wires. Then, it's not a power supply problem, and it's not a cord problem. And, as far as ambed and AMBEserver are two completely different software, I don't think it's a software problem. I did not get much answer on the XLX forum. It seems several people are using second hand PCs. Anyway, as I want to connect it in my 42U rack in my data center housing, two PCs would take too much room. I'd like to install the two AMBE transcoders in a rackable 1U cabinet. That's why I'm trying to use them with mini-machines such as RPis -- I've just connected the two ThumbDVs through powered USB hubs. Let's see what happens ;-) If it happens again, I'll try to find some error in the logs, which would allow me to track the problem more seriously than waiting for a few hours, and listening if audio is scrambled or not... 73 de TK1BI

John, please count me in(if shipping the DV3000 is economical from up here)... I had big ideas about salvaging that AMBE chip and reusing it.

Re: Converting the PIDV to USB

We have thought about offering a trade-in program for a PiDV toward a ThumbDV. It would probably be along the lines of order a ThumbDV and we credit you a $TBD rebate upon receipt of your PiDV within 30 days.

I've uploaded an image to the group showing how to convert the PiDV to USB.
It allows you the use it on either Raspberry Pi or Windows computers using the USB port instead of the header on the RPI. 73 de VE2ZFP
