Re: XLX003 Reflector; Anna

If you right-click on most any application and select "show package contents", you find interesting stuff. But be careful. Look, but don't touch, unless you know what you are doing!

Every Mac app icon points to a <APP NAME>.app directory.

You can see this more clearly with terminal, if you like command line.

At startup time, the reflector protocol drivers load up a properties list (plist) file of what reflectors they able to handle connections to. That list is made up of an internal list that’s shipped with Buster, and a live-downloaded list from ar-dns.net. They’re merged, with the ar-dns.net entries taking precedence.

Right now, Buster only uses the “DExtra Reflectors” list from ar-dns.net. That won’t include any of the XLX reflectors. There’s no real reason that I know of that would prevent Buster connecting, but it just doesn’t know about them. It was written before they existed.

You can hack Buster by adding an XLX reflector to the DExtraReflectors.plist XML file inside of /Applications/Buster.app. Anything else would require an update from me. The easiest thing would be for John to make the XLX reflectors available as a plist file as well, and then I can add a couple of lines to import it.

Finally made the system up and runining. Just a heads up for those running Pi 3B + with "compass Linux" Ambeserver / ircddbgateway & DummyRepeater, and have issues with the audio, using a USB Soundcard. Post here will work the tweets out.

I will highly recommend the SYBA C-Media USB Soundcard with the CM119 chip, note, it will only work with a Mic with a (3) Post stereo jack.

Hey Bryan,

It was one only for me, but thus far I have (4) confirmed inaddition to myself ordered the ThumbDv, and sure will encourage many others to get on board.

As I write now, one of my friends are setting up a paypal account to make an order.

I spoke with you in July the unit from what I remembered was $95.00US I am subject to correction here. So I saw a slight increase in price.

I have advised them all to take advantage of the sale on till the end of the month why they all placed the order.

You will see the callsigns from the Caribbean Ham community ordering that is due mainly to me encouraging them to do so.

I bought one even thought as I told you I have the DVstick30, but to support the project I ordered the ThumbDV.

Regarding use of BlueDV for Windows on DMR . . . . .
The BlueDV for Windows ‘settings’ screen has several sections - be sure the section for DMR settings has the correct settings.
Page #6 in the pdf file I sent you shows the exact settings I use for DMR in the US.  I use Brandmeister – the following notes are for BM use.
NOTE: Of course, you must have a valid DMR ID in your BlueDV settings before trying to “transmit” using the DMR mode-

Additional DMR related notes when using BM:
1)      On the main BlueDV screen, be sure to set “DMR” on the slider on the left side-center and also on the other slider - on the lower right side in the small panel.
2)      On the AMBE tab (right side panel),  ensure the “P/G” slider shows “G” (“P” = Private call, “G” = General Call”)
3)      Be sure you have “unlinked” the last DMR talk group by transmitting a very short burst on TG 4000
i.e., on the AMBE tab on the right side panel, input ‘4000’ into the text box for talk group number
then “transmit” a short burst – BlueDV audio will say “NOT LINKED”
4)      “Link” to the talk group you desire by entering the talk group number in the text box on the AMBE tab
then “transmit” a short burst to force TG linking to occur.  I have frequently found activity on TG 91 and/or TG 310
NOTE: You can check your audio by linking to TG 9990 and then transmitting
NOTE 1: When using Brandmeister, I have found it most helpful to monitor the TG I want by setting up a search at:

NOTE 2: Page #7 in the pdf file I sent you has multiple DMR nets listed –

Thanks to both who responded, I have it working now at least on DSTAR. I could use some help configuring it for DMR if anyone knows about it. Thank you and 73

Yes you can -with just your ThumbDV, but you need the AMBE version of BlueDV running.  Have a look at this>  ambepage  .
