thumbdv problems
gm4jnw@...
Have got the latest DV3000U thumbdv - had an earlier one when they first came out but got tempted and sold it but did use it HOWEVER. Since i had the old one i have updated to windows 10 on one laptop and downloaded Buster on my macbook pro with el captain on 10.11.2 Firstly the mac as thats my preferred option. Followed the step by step guide on the read me rtf file - i.e.: compiling in terminal etc all directories seem to be in place when i plug in the thumbdv while buster is open it picks up /dev/cu.usbserial-DA01PT5C so i presume its picking up the usb device ok. The thumbdv flashes when plugging it in but only once and the led does not stay on. at the bottom of buster it say Product id: vocoder not found Version: vocoder not found I have been through all the instructions about making directories etc etc and i can't find a fault Am I missing something - shame its not a simple application install NEXT: Windows 10 More straight forward WinDV installs fine all drivers install fine usb assigned to Com10 - unplug it and plug it in all ok. Try to run DV node and it crashes and just says DV node has stopped working (thanks windows it never started) windows will close the program and notify you of a solution BUT it doesn't I think its an issue with windows 10 but i cannot revert back to windows 7 as I'm too late. Would appreciate any help - thanks My personal email address is: gm4jnw@... I don't want to contact Waters and Stanton yet as I'm sure its not an issue with the device

Buster Source Code
Jeremy McDermond <mcdermj@...>
I have released the Buster source code under the Community Development and Distribution License today. Keep in mind that the code is still pretty raw and you’ll see a lot of “XXX” comments along the way. You can access the code through GitHub at https://github.com/mcdermj/buster. Please read the README.md before you submit code to the project.
If you have any issues, please look at the issue tracker on GitHub (https://github.com/mcdermj/buster/issues). There are some known issues there that didn’t get triaged for the 1.0 release, so check on them before you submit another issue. If you have new issues, please submit them there because it allows me to triage and track them so they don’t get lost. There’s also a wiki up there (https://github.com/mcdermj/buster/wiki) and folks should feel free to contribute content. Thanks to everyone for their warm support, and hopefully the code is illuminating to some folks. If you have architecture questions, please don’t hesitate to drop me an email. -- Jeremy McDermond (NH6Z) Xenotropic Systems mcdermj@xenotropic.com

I was loading it wrong found that the following page had some details spicifically
sudo AMBEserverGPIO -d -i /dev/ttyAMA0 init_uart_clock=3686400 Note: a higher value is needed on RPi 2 (50000000 has been suggested by VK4TUX)

OK - I'm in business for now with David's gracious assistance. Many Thanks! Lessons learned: 1. DV Node for Windows often crashes when you hit Gateway button. I'm not the only app crash victim. 2. Reflectors don't show up unless you select correct name server. Duh my bad.

If I understand it correctly my callsign registration looks like it is still incomplete. I'm not sure what a normal turnaround time is on that? Any idea?
I was able to get beyond the Gateway button crashing the application. That was apparently experienced by others also. Thanks, Richard

Thanks Don - I have confirmed I have the right baud rate 460800 which is right for my model A which was purchased only a week ago.

By Node DV, I assume you mean WinDV, if that is the case I just confirmed that if you have the baud rate set incorrectly it will crash. If you have the newer ThumbDV set the baud rate in WinDV Tools>Options menu to 460800, Make sure that you have the correct USB port. Don WB5EKU

Could be. You should contact the software's author to find out for sure.

I never heard anything back on the registration so I'm assuming it is still in process. I registered with KI6WZX in San Diego.
The software keeps crashing each time I hit the Gateway button. Is that because I don't have registration completed or because of some other issue?
