Re: GPS without external antenna? #draws #gps

No, an antenna is required, via the SMA connector.

Is there an on-board GPS antenna, or is an external antenna necessary?

Re: FT-847 PTT with wsjt-x not working #draws

If the program doesn't provide GPIO keying, then you have to use CAT or maybe VOX keying.  (Fldigi and direwolf are examples of programs with GPIO PTT keying)

AX.25 is working with YAAC. I am able to send and recieve packets.

But when i try digital modes, WSJTX and FlDigi, i can only recieve. I did stop AX.25 and still nothing. Any ideas on things i can check or try?

Re: FT-847 PTT with wsjt-x not working #draws

Are you selecting CAT for PTT, then activating hamlib to perform CAT?

Except in fldigi where you can select GPIO for PTT.

Don't let Linux throw you, the applications perform the functions regardless of operating system.

FT-847 PTT with wsjt-x not working #draws

I have my draws working with direwolf using left port and aprs. I next wanted to try FT-8 with the same radio the FT-847. I did get some receive data decoded but have yet to be able to get the PTT to work. I have a CAT cable hooked up and can get and change freqs fine but no PTT. Anyone had any success using this radio? Im not sure how I can force the PTT to use the mini cable as that is all I have to use for APRS so looking for some insight.

My (not your) additional problem is that I am out of the country until the end of April, and email is spotty here at best, so shoukd you relent and decide that it is worth your trouble to support the earliest boards, I will likely miss out by virtue of my geography?

Re: Testing AX.25 #draws

David Lowry

Thank you. I am good to go. netstat works, mheard works, and that gets me through the verification process. I owe you an adult beverage.

The tail command output is much more copious than what I copied and pasted previously. In fact, draws/direwolf is capturing many more packets than my hard TNC. I used a scope to set the volume knob to just shy of 1Vpp while listening to the national weather service, and used ft-817 ALSA settings. I was eventually going to look for a way to grab the output of the ADC to see when it fills it’s dynamic range. If I remember correctly, we used to do that on our spectrometers.

Here is an update. The coordinator has not gotten back to me on email after several attempts by me to help resolve his email to me. I went into direwolf and commented out the following lines.
IGLOGIN my call here with pass code
IGTXLIMIT  10

As far as I can tell this has stopped the situation but not sure. I have my wifi up along with xastir and since I see no response from the coordinator I assume I have meet his request. I hope so.
If anyone sees this as a wrong setup please let me know. I am still learning this card, but I do have a project planed in the near future. It will use the direwolf, sound card and radio remote control.
I am a happy user. This is exactly why I wanted to buy this hat. I love to experiment and learn.
