When you configure it check the block for the 3000u dongle.

As I said AA4RC will provide one, and dynamic DNS, as part of DPLUS, but your admin has to ask.
I free certificate can also be obtained through letsencrypt.org

John, the security certificate issue is one the central DStar office (for lack of a better word) needs to do. It isn't done on an individual site basis.

I have been trying to connect to a local ref29a, the thumb dv says no, can connect to xrf and dcs but not ref reflector.

Yes. On the go cable. Not all cell phones can use an OTG. My phones are Samsung J7 and a J3. Most one to two year old Cells are able to use them. Battery drain on mine runs 10 to 15 percent per hour
