Re: PIDV AMBEserver installation nightmare
Flavio, Sorry you are having difficulties. The response you are getting does not indicate that you are communicating with the PiDV. If you are using Compass -> https://nw-digital-radio.groups.io/g/compass/wiki/Installing-Compass-Linux-for-Raspberry-Pi#Supported-Raspberry-Pi-Processors (The boards you are using are not recommended for Compass Linux) Here are some helpful notes - https://nw-digital-radio.groups.io/g/ambe/wiki/AMBEserver-Addendum I will try to get some time to write a better test program for the Pi.

PIDV AMBEserver installation nightmare
Hi everyone!
I have tried to compile AMBEserver following the directions on the NWDR the old method (deprecated), the new method suggested by VK4TUX which has no make file when you use the github link on the NWDR site. It says it install the server in /usr/sbin when it install in /usr/bin instead. I have tried to set up on three different Raspberry Pi's A, B and B+ I also tried Compass Linux that says it comes per-installed but you have to install all dependencies wiringPi etc..Does not work at all. It has worked once when I bought it back in 2014 but I had to format my SD card and reinstall everything from scratch. Is there an easy way to do it? I'm giving up. I've spent so many hours on it I don't know anymore if it's worth it. When I do sudo AMBEserverGPIO -i /dev/ttyAMA0 with or without the start I get Reset DV3000 Wrote Reset 5 chars AMBEserver: unknown byte from the DV3000, 0x01AMBEserver: unknown byte from the DV3000, 0x00AMBEserver: unknown byte from the DV3000, 0x39. Or using the old python method : sudo ./dv3000d dv3000d has been deprecated, please use AMBEserverGPIO for DV3000 or AMBEserver for DV3000U Board is recognized sudo python AMBEtest2.py d 8 N 1 False False False 0 9 Reset 6100010033 Wrote: 5 bytes Version 6100010031 Wrote: 5 bytes Set DSTAR Mode 61000c000a013007634000000000000048 Wrote: 17 bytes Any thoughts? Thank you Flavio VE2ZFP

I have received many offers for help with the Apple developer fees and I would like to thank those that have written me privately. I’ll be renewing the subscription on Friday morning when I get paid and I’ll work to reinstate Buster at that point in time.

For those that have offered donations, I do have a “Tip Jar” at https://www.nh6z.net/tip-jar. Please read the disclaimer carefully because the sentiment expressed there is the primary reason why I have historically been hesitant to take donations. For those that have already donated: thank you. It is very much appreciated. I’ll keep folks updated as to status as I have time later this week. Thanks for your patience. — Jeremy McDermond (NH6Z)

I have not paid my Apple Developer fees for this year. I am waiting until I’m in a bit more advantageous cash flow situation at the end of the week. Until then, Apple will not allow any new downloads or upgrades of the program. If you’ve already installed it, it’ll continue to work.

Re: Buster for Mac Book Pro
Bob,
What version of MacOS are you running? At this time Buster is only available for 10.12 (Sierra). If you are not running 10.12, it probably won't show up in the App Store. I know Jeremy talked about creating a build for 10.11 at least, but don't know the status of that. 73, Kenny, KU7M

Just got the NW Digital ThumbdV, but Buster doesn't show up in the Apple App Store. Anybody know what's up with that? And how do I use the Thumbdv without it? I am brand new to this am excited to get started.

ThumbDV and Buster on mac os Sierra - doesn't find USB port
Shawn Goodin
The subject says it all.
I received my ThumbDV today, and it works fine under Windows 10 with WinDV. I'd like to use it on my Mac though, running Sierra (10.12.5). Per the NW Digital web site, I did not install any FTDI drivers. I have verified that the driver is loaded via kextstat - see output below: MacPro:dev shawng$ kextstat | grep FTDI 106 0 0xffffff7f81e2a000 0x6000 0x6000 com.apple.driver.AppleUSBFTDI (5.0.0) 51DB3F7C-B15A-3FD2-B57D-58547464BF8A <105 19 5 4 3 1>
Any suggestions?Shawn
