UDRC Demo by NH6Z at MicroHAMS 2016

Julie McGrew

During the video UDRC demo done by NH6Z at MicroHAMS 2016, the setup for the UDRC is shown in a great rack mount case with a touch screen in the face plate. Would someone be so kind as to point me in the direction I may purchase both the rack mount case and the touch screen for our own installation with a DR-1X?

Many thanks & 73,

Problem is that 100% of the time the app loads all troubled with the lines and nothing is clickable, the app is 100% useless. Reboot, reinstall, re-insert, remove, re-add, regedit, nothing helps. The app does not allow me to interface with it at all.

Good afternoon

Could you try and change the baud rate next to port number in program options to 460800 and see if that works ! Think that's how I got sorted let me know pls

Have the same problem here with WinDV.  Running Windows 10 and a Dell laptop.  I have re-starting WinDV, sometimes the problem is corrected, other times I have re-inserted the ThumbDV, and other times I have done both with no luck.  I have deleted and reinstalled WinDV, no change.

I do not know if this is related, but I have another problem with WinDV or the ThumbDV where the incoming signal is unreadable. The incoming audio breaks up, words are cut in half.

I am getting this symptom 100% of the time now, with or without the ThumbDV inserted. Removing and re-inserting does not cure the problem. I am going to try another Windows machine and see what happens. I'm up and running in my MacBook Air with the Buster app now.

Re: WinDV

I have seen that same symptom from time to time, and I'm running Windows 7 (x64).

The cause/solution always points to the com port - and the thumbdv being recognized correctly by the OS.

This can be corrected by removing and re-inserting the thumbdv perhaps taking more than one time to resolve.

I'm guessing that if you unplug the thumbdv from the computer and launch WinDV it will launch without those lines....

I have found this problem on the 4 computers I'm installed and run the Thumbdv on(all Win7).

Good luck.

Re: IRCddB Help

The main thing is to open two terminal windows and tail the log files

tail -f /var/log/opendv/dstarrepeaterd_1.log
tail -f /var/log/opendv/ircddbgatewayd.log

Key up and see what they show -- dstarrepeater will show your headers, make sure they look right.  ircddbgateway will show the linking attempt.

Also go back through the dstarrepeater_1 configuration and make sure dplus is enabled and that you have a US Trust registered user callsign in the dplus login.  If those two are not in place you will be unable to link into dplus -- also realize the hosts files get out of date, so try different reflectors and I recommend, this step.  https://nw-digital-radio.groups.io/g/udrc/wiki/Configuring-ircDDBgateway#Reflector-Host-Files

This is often a user radio issue.

Make sure the radio is in DR mode with RPT1 as the module number and RPT2 as the 'G' module, and UR set to "Use Repeater" (On older radios you can set these individually and put CQCQCQ in the UR field).

The other thing to check is the /etc/opendv/dstargateway_1 configuration file and make sure you set

callsign=WW7DRX  B
gateway=WW7DRX  G

Using your repeater/gateway callsigns with the module letters in the 8th position.

Peruse both logs,  /var/log/opendv/dstarrepeaterd_1.log and /var/log/opendv/ircddbgatewayd.log

Re: IRCddB Help

Hi Duff,

Are you running the ircddbgateway on the same Raspberry Pi as dstarrepeater?  If so, then you use the local address 127.0.0.1 to connect the dstarrepeater and ircddbgateway.

I assume you are following -- https://nw-digital-radio.groups.io/g/udrc/wiki/Configuring-ircDDBgateway ?  (BTW, the UDRC community provides help in https://nw-digital-radio.groups.io/g/udrc/messages

Re: Where did the modulation go . . .

There is a sub-group for UDRC.

Going over wired or wireless does not make any difference to ircddbgateway.

Do you have ircddbgateway and dstarrepeater talking to each other over the 127.0.0.1 address? If you were using LAN addresses, that could be the disconnect.

If your alsa settings are correct, try shutting down and removing power to be sure nothing is in a unknown state.

Can you perform other network activity from the RPI over Wifi?

I will be doing Thanksgiving with the family so may not be available for hours at a time.

So why does the radio connection care about whether the internet is

And how do I get modulation back?

PTT is still working. I get dead carrier when the UDRC ID's. Note that
I also have no detection of RX modulation. Neither TX nor RX shows any
response. The internet connection does work, I can see the activity in
ircddbgatewayd.log. But nothing shows up in dstarrepeaterd@1.log. And
I hear nothing over the air. Monitoring with a RX set to analog FM.

I checked the levels in alsamixer and those appear to be OK.
