Re: Where did the modulation go . . .
There is a sub-group for UDRC. Going over wired or wireless does not make any difference to ircddbgateway. Do you have ircddbgateway and dstarrepeater talking to each other over the 127.0.0.1 address? If you were using LAN addresses, that could be the disconnect. If your alsa settings are correct, try shutting down and removing power to be sure nothing is in a unknown state. Can you perform other network activity from the RPI over Wifi? I will be doing Thanksgiving with the family so may not be available for hours at a time.

Where did the modulation go . . .
ab9ca@...
OK, after several frustrating hours I finally got the UDRC to the point where I could log on to reflectors. Heard the canned message about being linked. But heard no reflector audio. I assume that is because I had not yet set up port forwarding. While trying to set up port forwarding something happened to my router. Not sure what. Lost wired internet connectivity. Dunno what caused it but eventually got it resolved and think the port forwarding is set up. Have wired connectivity back. While I had lost wired internet, the wireless still worked. So I set the RPi up to connect wirelessly. Apparently this is a mistake. The docs are totally silent on this. No reason not to connect wireless, right? The instant it connected wirelessly, the modulation disappeared, and, numerous reboots and restarts later, it has not re-appeared. So why does the radio connection care about whether the internet is wired or wireless? And how do I get modulation back? PTT is still working. I get dead carrier when the UDRC ID's. Note that I also have no detection of RX modulation. Neither TX nor RX shows any response. The internet connection does work, I can see the activity in ircddbgatewayd.log. But nothing shows up in dstarrepeaterd@1.log. And I hear nothing over the air. Monitoring with a RX set to analog FM. I checked the levels in alsamixer and those appear to be OK. 73, dave ab9ca/4

Just got my UDRC-II tonight and slapped it onto my RPi 3B+, looking through note to find the proper image file to use as it says I should not use the Raspian Jesse image. Just happy to have a new RPi Toy for HAM use :-) N7CKY

Re: UDRCII and HF
You would need a UDRC, ThumbDV or AMBEserver and an application. We don't currently have a recommended application at this point.

Alsamixer
Are there different seed files for the alsamixer as used by the UDRC and the UDRC2. If so can you include the link.

John, That’s kind of what I was thinking. Thanks for the confirmation. Dan - AI2M

Re: UDRC-II Announcement
Dan, No. For D-STAR repeater/hotspot operation there is no advantage to moving to the UDRC-II -- The primary advantage is if one has two radios operating packet radio or other 'soundcard' digital modes at the same time.

Hi John, I an using my URDC as a Personal Hotspot on a RPi 3 (5V power input) connected to a Yaesu FT-7800R with a DIN-6 cable. Is there any practical advantage to switching to the UDRC-II in that configuration? Thanks, Dan - AI2M

Posted on September 8, 2016by in UDRC | Leave a comment The great thing about Software is that you can improve it continuously. Here at NW Digital Radio, we view Hardware the same way. Each time we build out a PCB Fabrication run, it’s only engineering time and new solder-paste stencil charge to make any improvements. So we re-evaluate each product, looking for ways to make it better or appeal to a broader market. Now that we’ve shipped hundreds of units, we’ve updated the UDRC based on feedback from the field. UDRC-II Changes:§ PTT and SQL are now independent and buffered on both ports making it a true 2 port controller § LEDs have been added to both PTTs and the 5V converter (only lights if wired to 12V) § The 12V to 5V converter has an RFI Filter and Transient Protection for Mobile Applications § The Audio Inputs and Outputs are now 100 ohms to improve cable matching § The EEPROM version allows the driver to auto-configure for the UDRC or UDRC-II The UDRC-II starts shipping once we have all the documentation updated. All existing backorders will ship UDRC-II. The original UDRC will be obsoleted. Limited Time Offer for all UDRC Owners! If you’ve already purchased a UDRC, place an order for a UDRC-II by the end of September and receive a $20 Rebate. Just write UDRC Rebate in the comment field. Re: UDRC-II Announcement
For those not familiar with the Northwest APRS Summer Gathering, it is an annual gathering of folks interested in APRS and similar digital based amateur radio activities. It is held at Valley Camp in the foothills of the beautiful Cascade Mountains east of Seattle. Valley Camp provides a great venue in the great outdoors with a sheltered presentation area and has that all important WiFi access. Valley Camp supports this event as well as other amateur radio activities such as JOTA without a rental fee, simply taking donations from participants. At NW Digital Radio we applaud Valley Camp for hosting these activities, and are happy to add to the donations given by participants.
