Re: DVAPor DV-mega?

Randy Wilkinson <randy@...>

I'll be polite on behalf of Brian and John.

This is the group for discussion of the UDRX-440 and other products from the smart people at NW Digital Radio.  It is probably not appropriate to ask what are the best alternative choices to the UDRX-440.  That is what your question is asking.

My I suggest you join us on the Raspberry Pi D-STAR net tonight at 7pm pacific time on D-STAR reflector 35C.  You'll meet lots of other hams that have already done what you are asking about.  Your question will be welcomed there.

I see that I have a choice between the DVAP and the DV-MEGA. What are the pros-cons to using either one? Is either refereed over the other?

Any other input or suggestions?

You can use XRF and DCS reflectors without registration.

Thanks Kevin,

I heard from Fred today as a matter of fact.  His software is top notch in my opinion. The ThumbDV is working great with it on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.

If I may ask you Kevin, did you use the Feedback/Comments section of Fred's website to contact him for the software?  I sent a message through that portion of the website but never heard a thing back. I'm still waiting for my ThumbDV to arrive so hopefully I'll have the software before it arrives.

Thanks for the info,

John shouldn't have any problem bringing up LinBPQ on the UDRX at any supported speed.

Hi Kevin,

Well the information is on the site, but I have to admit it's not right up front where it should be. Ideally there would be a link from our site to the download, but it's still in Beta so you have to ask for it from Fred, the author.

I'm going to rework the website over the weekend and make it more obvious.

Thanks for the feedback,

Does anyone have acopy of this software or have any idea how I can get a copy. I recently purchased the ThumbDV, watched the youtube video like 6 times and now I find out that you cannot use the software from the download page. One would thnk that the mfg. would point this out!

Thanks for any and all help.

One of the things I'd like to do with a UDRX is run a remote 9600 packet node. I'm not sure how the 9600 baud functionality is supported within the radio but would it be possible to also load LinBPQ in order to run a NetRom node?
