Good 2m rig?

Steve McGrane <temporarilyoffline@...>

Is there a list of known compatible (or at least community aware working) radios?
My FT-891 is working fine on the HF side of things (should be back any day now) and I'm working on my TM-281, but I'm flying blind creating an interface cable and hoping for the best.

Last night I spent a bit of time looking for a 2m radio with a data connector (really hoping to find one with a useful DIN-6 connector already).  But as you know the people that make and sell radios have never once tried to buy one and their websites are just "lovely".
Callum does a better job explaining it than I do:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KfbOXc6OU8
What I would love to see is a list of radios side by side with features and a set of useful filter check boxes to narrow down the array of choices.  Similar to my missive above:  "Show me all 2m capable radios with a data port"

From an Operating System point of view, "Compass" is Raspbian Linux.

So now is the time I guess to try the piDrive again. I do want to make that work because of the elimination of the SD Card requirement. With the PiDrive you can boot from the harddrive. I was hoping to be able to do the same with Compass Linux. So we shall try sometime this week and see what happens again. Wish me luck.

UDRC drivers on vanilla Raspbian (not compass)

Nathan Dykstra

Is there somewhere that the UDRC drivers can be found, to install them myself on Raspbian?
I am interested in building things up myself, instead of depending on pre-assembled compass linux.

Thanks!

Perhaps you could share the current status of DRAWS with those of us who cannot make it to Hamvention this year.

No DRAWS Video... but some DRAWS content

Steve McGrane <temporarilyoffline@...>

I let the smoke out of my radio that I've been using for the DRAWS videos and I don't have a backup right now that works with DRAWS.

In the meantime I've got some parts in for testing when the radio comes back from the shop and a quick look at the competition: (SignaLink)

Thanks for watching!

Im having problems get tar.gz files to install with DRAWS.
Open a console window, go to directory you want to use and type:

tar xvzf some_file_name.tar.gz

If you have problems send me the console output.

We do not have a definitive ship date for Aluminum Cases yet, as a few details are being worked out.

Acrylic cases are available from C4Labs here:

DRAWSCase

DRAWS Boards are in assembly and will ship when we return from Dayton.

FLDigi question

I've made a few contacts using PSK31.  I have set the mode to DATA-U and FLDigi will make the change to the radio, then it (on its own) changes the screen to say AM-N instead.

Does this happen to anybody else?  Normal?

The draws driver is not loading. This can be caused by a couple of
things.

If you have done an 'apt-get update; apt-get upgrade' the AudioSense-Pi
driver displaces the Draws driver.

The position of the on-board audio enable statement in /boot/config.txt
can cause the Draws driver to not load.

The AudioSense-Pi driver problem has been fixed by Anna in the Linux
kernel. Changes to the main line Linux kernel take a while to trickle
down to the kernel used by Raspbian so the symptoms of this problem will
probably exist for a number of months.

You can fix both problems by doing the following from a console.

# Get the latest versions of my scripts
cd
cd n7nix
git pull

cd bin
./chk_bootcfg.sh
./ch_conflict.sh

reboot

After a reboot, run this from a console:
aplay -l

You should now see the udrc being enumerated. ie. you should see this:

card 1: udrc [udrc], device 0: Universal Digital Radio Controller tlv320aic32x4-hifi-0 []
  Subdevices: 0/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Both of these problems are handled better in the BETA13 image that I
will release today.

/Basil
