Check Samba as well if it's loaded and running. It's a known contributor to "talk to all interfaces" problems.

Development takes time, particularly for a quality product. I'd give it to them. ;-)

Note that Codec2 is still being worked on and has several modes with different bit-rates. It may be too early yet to look for a solid implementation you can depend on for emcomm use.
