Are any of the first run aluminum DRAWS available for purchase?  I would like to get two rather than the acrylic version.

great work Todd on figuring this out.

I was able to create the script and I can now transmit with the draws on my OG IC-706

Thanks for all the legwork.

Re: Switch Audio

The DRAWS™ HAT and built-in Raspberry Pi audio CODECS are separate.

Edit /boot/config.txt and uncomment (near the end)

dtparam=audio=on

Save and reboot.
This will activate the Raspberry Pi's internal audio.

If it still doesn't come out on HDMI -- see

DRAWS Kit and Turnkey Available for Order

by k7udr

We have now opened orders for:

DRAWS Kit $199.95
For the Do-It-Your Selfer who wants to save money by doing the “Box Build” and SW Integration:

  • DRAWS HAT
  • GPS Antenna with LNA
  • 2 Mini DIN-6 M/M 2m Cables
  • Aluminum Case with 5.5mm x 2.1mm Power Connector
  • The customer will provide their own Raspberry Pi and SD Card (which are not included in the kit)

DRAWS Turnkey $299.95
Assembled and tested DRAWS in an Aluminum Case with Pi and SW Loaded:

  • DRAWS HAT
  • GPS Antenna with LNA
  • 2 Mini DIN-6 M/M 2m Cables
  • Aluminum Case with 5.5mm x 2.1mm Power Connector
  • Raspberry Pi 3B+ with Heatsink
  • 16GB Micro SD-CARD preloaded with image

If you have a back-order for a DRAWS HAT, we will provide a link to upgrade to a Kit or Turnkey Unit later this week.

For existing DRAWS Customers:

We have changed the HAT Layout to facilitate assembly, moving the SMA connector from the side to the end. This makes the new aluminum case incompatible with the Early-Adopter HATs.

We have partnered with C4Labs to make an excellent Acrylic Case that will work with either layout. Join their mailing list for price and delivery.

C4-DRAWS-Case

All Early-Adopters will also receive a discount coupon to purchase a Kit or TurnKey unit.

Anyone automatically powering up/down (if that's possible) based on the 12v input sensor?  I'd like to have my pi sleep or power off at a configurable voltage so that it will never run the car battery down.  Ideally though I'd like it to power back up after the voltage comes up when the car is started.  I'm not opposed to pushing a button though :).

Excited to get started with this thing.  I'm planning to mount my DRAWS in the car as a headless APRS and Winlink device, possibly controlled with a physical switch to change modes or, ideally, it would just respond appropriately based on packets received, or based on a schedule (disable aprs, check e-mail, re-enable aprs).  Soundcard modes should be available via VNC with a bit more manual input...  I'll also be following the info I found here for automatically connecting to wifi when available, or creating a hotspot when out and about so the connection is not a problem.

So far not interested in DMR/DSTAR/etc type modes, but that's on the radar :).

Hi Bjorn

Thanks for the encouragement.

I made up a cable for the KX2.  I cut a mini-DIN -6 cable and a male to male 3.5 cable in half.  I soldered them to form a mini-Din-6 on one end and two male 3.5 plugs.  I only used the tips and shields on the 3.5 male plugs.

I plugged the new cables into the DRAWS and KX2 and followed the setup instructions from Steve McGrane's latest video (thanks Steve) and the video from NW-Digital on Draws Manager.
I also connected the USB cable from the KX2 to the RPi for CAT control.

Success with WSJT rx and tx.

Settings:
KX2 Mic set at 2, KX2 audio set at 6
Draws Left Mini Din -6, AF pin 5 Analog Gain 7.5, Output to TX Analog Gain -6.00, Digital Gain -8.00

Let me know if this helps you.

Re: partially deaf miniDin-6 sockets #audio

Hi Bryan, thanks, I tried to erase that message. Idiot error on my end. I had AFIN and AFOUT reversed when I made the cable to the FT-2980. I guess it is karma for me complaining earlier about the power leads being reversed. I am up to speed now and reading the 177 page Direwolf User Guide. This board and Direwolf perform so much better than my hard TNC. You folks are doing a wonderful thing.

Hi David,

Sounds like a bad connector, but both?

Please take a picture of the bottom of the DRAWS board then return it to:

Re: HF Rig Recommendations #hf #draws

Half success. I have still the FT8900 connected to the left mini-DIN-6 female connector on the Draws board (udr0) and now also my kx3 connected to the right  mini-DIN-6 female connector on the Draws board (udr1) via the mini-DIN6 to 2*3.5mm TRS audio plugs. I am  receiving AX25 beacon frames on both. The reason I started tested with the kx3 rather than the kx2 is that I have a 2m module in the kx3. They should however behave the same way.

I  have, however, not yet managed to get the draws board to trigger tx on any of the radios and am trying to figure out which module and how to tell the board which radios are attached.

RMSGW and LINBPQ

J P Watters <kc9kko@...>

Setup a DRAWS as a RMSGW. It works nicely for WINLINK Digipeater Clients.

Is there any guidance to install LINBPQ to provide NODE, CHAT and BBS to use the existing RMSGW instance of Direwolf

Currently installed LINBPQ in /home/pi/linbpq

Is there a better location for the application files.

Many of the other nodes in the region are using LINBPQ as the foundation of their RMSGW/NODE/CHAT/BBS

including a sample BPQ32.CFG file would be helpful.

Re: Xastir/gpsd Update #draws #gpsd #config #xastir

Until Basil has a chance to add the updated Xastir, a prog_update won't update your install.

The only path right now is to build from source.

Paul, I've sent the details for the FT891 off to Basil, but seeing Tim's response they might not be needed just yet.
