What does app_config.sh messenger do? I searched the WIKI without sucess.
I ran app_config.sh without any parameters and it shows command line Usage: app_config.sh

You are using the same call sign & SSID for both devices. That
happened when you configured the direwolf SSID to be 10. Change it to

I was monitoring 144.390 MHz with second rcvr and only heard a couple APRS transmissions.
which might also been when the alsa settings were from the IC7000 script.

I was reading Michael Sharp's messages where he also indicates no transmit.
Perhaps I too have a bad board, Is there any way to identify the units with the issue?

it's mach so it's *nix based. just use the DD command and be done with it...
eg: SD card is /dev/sdc
dd if=/dev/sdc of=MyPiSDCard.iso BS=2048
to write it back just swap the parameters
