Yep.  Haven't seen any evidence of a pattern or cause though.  It happen's sometimes when the system idles unattended and other times while I am using it.  My suspicion is either a memory leak somewhere in the software stack or heat.  Both of those just because I haven't any better ideas.

Re: UDRC 2 and motorola GM300 connection

Anna did the code for this -- it might be possible to get it to work as just another soundcard plus GPIO but the UDRC specific code was designed for the HD-15 -- perhaps she can pipe in.

John,

So this is hardcoded in dstarrepeater for the UDRC/UDRC-II?  (meaning you can change it with config?)

That would explain why I have been having a problem getting receive to work....

Thanks

Re: UDRC 2 and motorola GM300 connection

You should be using the HD-15 as there is code in dstarrepeater that looks for it when using the UDRC/UDRC-II

I think that specific connection has some kinda capacitor and resistors in there. That didnt degrade the connections between the UDRC and GM300 any?
I thought you cant have anything in that kinda connections?

Hi Johnny,

I too was looking to see if Pi-Star would support a UDRC board.  Late last summer, Jonathon Naylor G4KLX released a version of his MMDVM software on his Github page. As I understand it, new MMDVM code will eventually end up in Pi-Star, but after seeing a couple of old posts on the Pi-Star Wiki, I'm not sure if it will, since the UDRC is now discontinued. Perhaps if support is added for the DRAWS board (same audio chip?) that there may be some hope for the UDRC.

Looking at the schematic for the UDRC 2,  both the 6-pin miniDIN & DE15HD connectors share the same I/O -less the squelch (they're independent).

I have a GM300 also, and had been considering ordering one of these > https://shop.f5uii.net/en/product-category/mmdvm

Johnny,

I'm in a similar effort right now, except that I'm building a full dstar repeater with a  Motorola Micor deck. There is plenty of info on the repeater-builder website for how to interface with the GM300, so you should be good for that end. I personally went with the DIN6 connector on the UDRC, but mainly because access to the pre-made cables is easy. (Buy a extension and cut it in half)

I have successfully used UDRC hats with Motorola radios that have both
the 16 pin & 20 pin accessory port using the Argent Data Systems GM300
Mini-Din adapter.

New Case for RPi, DRAWS and 7 inch LCD - Looking for testers

Steve Goyette

Cross Posted from the MAIN board as we were told that most discussions around the DRAWS hat happen here.

Hello,

VE7KGV and I designed a case to allow use of the DRAWS Hat with a Raspberry Pi and 7 inch LCD but have no way to test it because we haven't gotten a DRAWS board to play with (Hopefully in the next couple of weeks).  As a result we've only been able to design this from the spec sheet.  The full design is on Thingiverse here https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3387482

There are pictures there as well.

Would love any input you have on how to improve this design.

Thanks,

Steve and Kevin

Re: Enclosure

Well, I like the Anderson PowerPoke connectors because I can be reasonably assured that I can connect my equipment to power in a new location. However, having equipment other than power supplies with other types of connectors is not a bad thing. If a device powered by 12v wall wart comes with a power cord with a non-PowerPole connector that they have chosen for their own reasons, cutting the supplied power supply output cord in the middle and installing PowerPoles to the cut ends is an easy way to have one's cake and connect it too. Just label each section of the modified power cord to identify the device from which they were cut.

For devices that are small or light weight, connecting a heavy or stiff wire with PowerPoles may require some form of strain relief on the wire to protect the device from being pulled off a workstation or  causing mechanical damage to the device.

FYI, I put my URCII in this plastic case, and with a few nips of the plastic with side cutters, I mounted my Draws in this case as well.
Had to nip an area for the power connector on the side and had to nip a block deeper for the GPS SMA connector.
