Re: DRAWS downloadable Image? #setup #compassimage #draws #earlyadopters

It will be a bit, we will announce once it is ready. In the meantime the steps outlined earlier will give you a starting system.

Thanks.

Re: UDRC-II Direwolf

Here is a sample direwolf.conf to get you started, switch CALLSIGN to your callsign, and get APRS-IS login number for IGLOGIN (google search will help).  Use the User Guide at https://github.com/wb2osz/direwolf/tree/master/doc to update other values and settings.  This configuration assumes you have GPSD running so that TBEACON uses your current position information. Otherwise use PBEACON (see documentation)

I followed the install directions for DIREWOLF for the UDRC II on the  DRAWS HAT. Install completed ok but there was no direwolf.conf file to edit?

Re: UDRC-II Direwolf

1200 baud will generally work with the radio in the 9600 baud position.

Using experimental virtual alsa ports, I have gotten both working in parallel but that is likely frowned upon when using a single frequency.

There is no technical support for these configurations.

Rich,

For all of the radios I've used at 9600 baud, you always have to tell the radio to feed the audio to the 9600 pin. I've never tested this, but I assume that means there is no signal sent to the 1200 pin when using the 9600 output.  So to operate 1200 and 9600 baud, you couldn't use the two pins on the UDRC-II, without having some method of flipping modes on the radio.

UDRC-II Direwolf

I have AX25-tools and Direwolf installed from N7NIX scripts. I have added to that AX25-apps.  All seems to work well.  I have the UDRC-II connected to the radio through the Din6 connection.  I would like to operate at both 1200 baud and 9600 baud packet. Can I do that with only one radio or do I need to have two radios as I do with my KPC-9612?  I have been able to work either 1200 baud or 9600 baud but have not figured out a way to work either on one radio.
Thanks for the help.

Dear John

That reason, limitation for use some modulation form is very clear reason to use direct connection. I agree that. So if user still think use of audio transformers, it can use with in custom cables between board and radio, then it also usable with any applications in future is needed. Thanks!

With the ability to power the PI/DRAWS from the same power source as the radio the need for this type of isolation is really eliminated.

DRAWS board looking very nice, but also noticed that audio in/out to radios has no galvanic isolated audiolines (audio transformers)  like all other digi interfaces nowdays..

I will understant space of RPI hat format boards, but also think about security of electricity loops... Also I like to see trimmers for in and out leves, but this is also similar space problem.. But when looking board layout, possible space for audio transformers may ne just behind L and R connectors.. just populate even one of radio port, no space for 4 transformers, but maybe space for two.

DRAWS™ + Direwolf + YAAC for APRS #aprs #draws #yaac #install

YAAC works on DRAWS with DIREWOLF over AGWPE socket.

If you have GPSD running it can use it as well.

From == http://www.ka2ddo.org/ka2ddo/YAAC.html

Raspberry Pi Detailed Installation Directions

For those using the Raspberry Pi who are new to Linux and the Pi, here are some simplified directions. Text in this font are literal text to be typed into the Pi.

  1. Download the YAAC.zip file to your Pi. (The following steps assume you are using the Raspbian default browser, so the file will be placed in the /home/pi/Download directory.)
  2. Open a terminal (lxterm) window.
  3. sudo bash to become superuser.
  4. apt-get install openjdk-8-jre librxtx-java unzip to install the other software modules that YAAC needs as prerequisites.
  5. exit from the superuser shell.
  6. mkdir YAAC
  7. cd YAAC
  8. unzip ../Download/YAAC.zip

At this point, YAAC is installed and ready to run. Use the command

java -jar YAAC.jar

to invoke YAAC and start the configuration wizard.

Most likely you are not waiting long enough for the buffered writes to
finish. If you are doing this on a Linux system try this:

time dcfldd if=2018-11-18-compass.img of=<Your_flash_device_name> bs=4M status=progress
sync

I prefer U.S. Department of Defense Computer Forensics Lab version of dd
dcfldd.

Send us your console output.
