Now that I am transmitting my GPS data is invalid:
Where is your GPS antenna located are you getting a lock?

Are you seeing any sentences coming out of gpsd?

gpsmon
cgps
gpspipe -r
gpspipe -w

https://github.com/nwdigitalradio/n7nix/blob/master/docs/VERIFY_CONFIG.md#check-gps

beacon test script has a gps verify option -g

./btest.sh -g
*** Running as user: pi ***
Verify gpsd is returning sentences: Sentence count: 3
Test nmea sentence: GPS nmea sentences OK

Have you ever gotten a lock for your gps?
Put the antenna up against a window or better yet stick it outside.

Basil,

I also no longer have an iGate output either ?? Don't recall making any changes??

Any ideas, recommendations, admonitions??

Re: DRAWS

Basil,

I called tech support at Icom and was told I probably needed solder the appropriate "coffee Bean". LOL

A solder bridge, D for Audio and F for data.  This is on the board where the accessory connector is plugged into for the rear access, J6.

Here its soldered:

After I soldered it I was able to adjust the alsa settings using measure_deviate this 2200Hz:

There is still something not right as I am not seeing my packets including raw packets at aprs.fi?

iptables is not running which makes me think ./app_config.sh core did
not complete properly. Please show me the contents of /var/log/udr_install.log
then turn on iptables by doing the following from a console:

cd
cd n7nix/iptables
sudo su
./iptable-up.sh
./iptable-check.sh

Also send the console output of all the above commands.

It doesn't appear your iptables loaded properly which might mean your

You are trying to multicast IGMP protocol and Chromcast packets out the

PLU setup seemed to run successfully. I am getting an error in
Claws-Mail when sending.

*Account 'pi@localhost': Connecting to SMTP server smtp.draws:25...

Did you use the following instructions to set up Claws-mail?
https://github.com/nwdigitalradio/n7nix/tree/master/email/claws

Note everything is already installed, just look at the configuration

What did I do wrong?
Most likely specified server address incorrectly.
Should be 'localhost' for both receiving & sending mail.

Use measure_deviate.sh script
https://github.com/nwdigitalradio/n7nix/tree/master/deviation

Search groups.io messages for 'deviation'

I use these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LXRQY9A/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
because cable length is 3 Meters

Or could I put an SMA bulkhead connector through the wall and get more
SMA coax to connect the GPS unit?

Where can I find the PLU and Xastir setup and use instructions for our

For a DRAWS card using the left connector use Xastir port 1.
For a DRAWS card using the right connector use Xastir port 2.

Xastir is already installed, you only need to configure it.
https://github.com/nwdigitalradio/n7nix/tree/master/xastir

Xastir will start and I have entered the basic information. Now, how do
I get it to see the DRAWS and start receiving?
Configure interfaces: Interface -> Interface Control
Use Networked AGWPE localhost:8000
Networked GPS (via gpsd)

You could also use an ax.25 port AX.25 TNC udr0 but using Networked
AGWPE is a little easier.

Same for PLU (linked to Claws Mail).
For paclink-unix questions I recommend using their groups.io site

How do I start a Peer to Peer session and keep it open?
The email client just composes & organizes your messages. If you want to
send peer-to-peer then after composing a message use
wl2kax25 -c <callsign-no-ssid>
ie.
wl2kax25 -c n7nix

Paclink-unix Peer-to-peer is always listening for your call sign
paclink-unix has 3 transports

wl2ktelnet - Internet
wl2kax25 - packet radio
wl2kserial - for SCS-PTCIIpro

How do I start a normal session to the local RMS Gateway?
wl2kax25 -c <callsign-with sid>
ie.
wl2kax25 -c n7nix-10

To find RMS Gateways near you run this script
rmslist.sh <integer_distance_in_miles> <maidenhead_grid_square>
ie.
rmslist.sh 30 CN88nl

Re: DRAWS

Paul Noa

Hi Basil,

Me again!  I have had seemingly gotten most everything straighten out. Bryan helped.

Attached is a text of my current situation.  What I know is:
1.) My GPS receiver is not picking up because it is too far from the window not an issue now.
2.) I have not yet set up transmit levels and suspect that is my next challenge
3.) Having no prior experience I am not sure about some of the results could you look at my file of outputs and give me your insights please?

I will be checking the transmit side in the meantime.
Thanks for your support in advance!

Re: GPS Extender

It is just coax with a voltage bias to power the antenna. Just follow common coax extension procedures.

There are also antenna assemblies with longer coax.

What GPS extender do you recommend and why?

Or could I put an SMA bulkhead connector through the wall and get more

Program Setup & Use Instructions

Where can I find the PLU and Xastir setup and use instructions for our DRAWS?

Xastir will start and I have entered the basic information. Now, how do I get it to see the DRAWS and start receiving?

Same for PLU (linked to Claws Mail).  How do I start a Peer to Peer session and keep it open? How do I start a normal session to the local RMS Gateway?

Thanks, Ed, KD9FRQ

Re: NWDR15 Check

Basil,

PLU setup seemed to run successfully.  I am getting an error in Claws-Mail when sending.

*Account 'pi@localhost': Connecting to SMTP server smtp.draws:25...

*** smtp.draws:25: unknown host.

*** Error occurred while sending the message.

What did I do wrong?

Ed

Thank you, Basil.

Yes, I just tapped enter, accepting all the values as default.

I will move forward the setup of PLU.

This console output just means that your RPi host name is possibly one
of:

"raspberrypi", "compass", "draws"

which I wouldn't use but doesn't really matter.
Your installation should be fine.

Re: when will the new hats ship?

Still waiting for FABs to ship. Was scheduled for last week but didn’t happen.

last email was basically a "shrug" ..... first was end of feb, then end of march, now looks to be end of april.

as posted on "the blog" at http://nwdigitalradio.com/stay-at-home-sale-on-the-thumbdv/

TL;DR

The “Stay at Home” order by Governor Inslee of Washington State, has impacted some of our vendors, delaying the DRAWS™ run. We will keep you apprised.

So it’s time for a sale on the ThumbDV™ !

Might as well contact Hams on the reflectors using DSTAR, DMR or Fusion from your PC at home.

Normally $119.95, on Sale NOW for $99.95 at least until the order is lifted, or we run out of inventory.

Price Protection Policy: If you ordered a ThumbDV™ in the last 30 days, email sales@... for a $20 refund.
