Re: Early Adopter case???
Hi August, John Hays is at DCC in Detroit and it occurs to me that I first talked about cases a year ago at DCC in Albuquerque. I am keenly aware of the delay in production. Bryan K7UDR

I'm going to ask again about the early adopter aluminum case. I know you'll just say "Refer to the Blog" but since the last entry on the blog about the case is June 5, I think it's about time for this to be addressed. And just saying "You're
free to cancel your order" is avoiding answering the question. WHEN can us early adopters expect to receive the cases we ordered??? I ordered this case many months ago!

Is there any benefit putting the right value caps back in place rather than just removing them? Ed

Thanks for all the info that's been shared! Is there a way to identify the affected boards from the O/S? GUI or command line either one? Or, is it just every board with the SMA connector down at the end opposite the USB & ethernet jacks? Thanks! -Scott, K4KDR ==========================

How do we check to see if our board is one of the affected boards?

Here is there info needed to address the problem:
The Audio output has an RC Filter of 100ohms and 0.1uF for a -3dB frequency of 16kHz. The boards were stuffed with 10uF instead for a 160Hz cutoff. The filter is not really necessary so the caps may be removed. If you do the rework yourself, send an email to sales@... with REWORK <order#> as the subject and we will refund $10. Or you may send the board only to: NW Digital Radio REWORK<order#> 150 Cessna Ave Friday Harbor WA 908250 We will rework it for you and refund $5 for the postage We have updated our manufacturing test to provide better coverage. The 1PPS Signal is on IO7, Pin 26 on the 40 pin header if you have an Oscillator with 1PPS Sync input.

I'm interested in using DRAWS to drive my FT-818ND for digital applications up in the microwave bands Eg. 904, 1296, 2304 MHz, etc (FT8, JS8CALL, etc) as well as a precise frequency reference for my LO. I understand that a DRAWS has a GPS on board with a 1pps reference for NTP. Is that 1PPS signal available for a frequency reference so that it can be used as a GPSDO with some additional parts? I'm currently using a Leo Bodnar Mini Precision GPS Reference clock to generate very stable reference frequencies between 400Hz and 810MHz. Eg. 1296 MHz = 2x576MHz + 144 MHz. A stable LO is essential for working up on the microwave bands. I just don't want two GPSs in my transverter. Ideas? --Konrad, WA4OSH

As a followup to setting up PAT with the DRAWS....DRAWS Compass refers to the current and now deprecated image. That image does not have piardopc installed. The next image most likely will since I am working with paclink-unix & ardop on the RPi. I ask because I see ARDOP available in the drop down of PAT.John Wiseman's documentation is excellent and I had no problems getting it to work with UDRC or DRAWS on an RPi. http://www.cantab.net/users/john.wiseman/Documents/ARDOPC.html Below are my brief notes for using an UDRC II. The only thing to be aware of for the DRAWS hat is the gpio setting for left or right mDin6 connector. Command line used to start piardopc ./piardopc 8515 plughw:1,0 plughw:1,0 -p GPIO=23 Added this to .asoundrc ref: ARDOPC.txt pcm.ARDOP { type rate slave { pcm "hw:1,0" rate 12000 } } /Basil

I believe you're referring to the excellent YouTube videos from KM4ACK.
I can't speak to what might have already been installed on the DRAWS Compass
image in regard to ARDOP... all I did was follow the steps in the KM4ACK
videos for both ax25 & ARDOP and both methods are working perfectly for me.
(I am also using the DRAWS SD Card image but followed the KM4ACK steps to
get those 2 PAT protocols configured & working)

Is the ARDOP install that comes with teh DRAWS Compass package
"installed" and available to PAT once PAT is installed?
I ask because I see ARDOP available in the drop down of PAT.
If not, what does it take to active the ARDOP install in Compass so PAT
would see it without installing it again (using K4KDR instructional
video, for example)?
Respectfully,

Thanks for the update! Could this explain why my recent DRAWs board (2 weeks old) doesn't work at all with the default TM-V71A alsa settings that ship with your image ? I mean the `setalsa-tmv71a.sh` script. I had to create a very different set of settings in order to get other stations to demodulate my AFSK-1200 properly... Ed

We have discovered that a capacitor was installed in the audio filter chain that can prevent certain applications from functioning properly. We apologize that this was not detected before the boards were shipped. In the next few days we will publish instructions for those who would like to do a field repair. At the same time we will provide instructions on how to have NW Digital Radio perform the repair. Please do not return your boards before instructions are provided.
