#ax25 Getting It Started After Config #ax25

Basil,

Thank you for sticking with this as well.  I take it from your mention of the 3B+ that if I had used the 3B we would not have seen this problem. Is this a correct understanding of your comment?

Les at Ham Made parts is already "on the case" for the cables. I will be getting a 1200 baud cable first with plans to have a 9600 baud cable should the need ever arise. I will be focusing on the HF setup when my next DRAWS arrives. It will also go on a 3B+. I have both a FT-450 and FT-897 available.

I would like to ask if there are other spots on the DRAWS to tap the LED on/off for each channel. I would like to investigate adding a larger LED for personal visual needs.

Thanks again.

Ed, thanks for sticking with it. Linux systemd allows starting processes
in parallel using dependencies. What I think was happening was the RPi
3B+ was somewhat faster than the RPi 3 and started similar processes in
a different order. One of those processes was the ax25 device and it
didn't fail with the correct error code so was not retried at a later
time.

Anyway thanks for confirming that the current files work with the RPi 3B+.

Bad news : I have now learned that my cable has the wrong pin out and I
must get another one to connect to my new Alinco 135.
I have an Alinco DR-235 that I use with a UDRC II but the guy that made
that cable is no longer in business. I try to buy cables whenever I can
because making cables is not my favorite thing to do. Just an FYI I have
different cables for 1200 & 9600 baud for the Alinco radio and I remember
being challenged with a cable that tied the pins (Alinco 9pin 2 & 4) for
those bit rates together.

Thank you for all your hard work.
Thanks for following all my arcane instructions and giving good
feedback.

The DRAWS is a great product.

Ed,

I think I have a solution to your problem.

You will need to get the latest versions of a couple of scripts, turn
ax25 off, reboot then turn ax25 back on and verify.
It will be helpful if you could send me the console output for the
commands below.

# Get the latest versions of scripts
cd
cd n7nix
git pull

# Refresh the local bin directory
cd config
./bin_refresh.sh

# Check the ax25 status
ax25-status

# stop direwolf & ax.25
sudo su
./ax25-stop

# Check the ax25 status
./ax25-status

### REBOOT your RPi
shutdown -r now

### login and start direwolf & ax.25
cd
cd bin
sudo su
./ax25-start

# Check you ax25 status
./ax25-status

# check that ax25-status is in your path
# Leave user root & become user pi
exit
ax25-status

Thanks,

Thanks for the files. kissattach is failing because one of the
parameters is not in the correct format. The defaults should work
so I need to determine which parameter kissattach is barfing on.

Could you please send the console output of the following commands:
journalctl -u ax25dev.service
head -n 20 /etc/ax25/ax25-upd

Do you recall what you entered when this prompt was displayed during
your initial configuration?

"If you do not understand or care about the following just hit enter for
default values"
"Enter ip address for AX.25 interface ax0 followed by [enter]"

When you can display some active ax25 sockets you can proceed with other
tests.

As root run the latest version of ax25-start as I described in my last
email. Paste the console output of all the commands previously described
below in an email to me.
Also send me the output showudrc.sh

Did you run: ./app_config.sh core ?

Basil,

I followed the directions in Get Started.  I think I answered a prompt incorrectly regarding AX.25.

When I run ./app_config.sh core now, I get the "Already ran" statement.

I get the same ax.25 status results as before.

So, how do I get ax25dev. service and ax25 - mheardd. service running?
