Problem Pi3B+ and new image on new SD card

Mike Lussier - AE4ML

I just went through a fresh install for the gateway. and setup my modulation and rebooted. I can no longer see anything in aplay -l
I read down the last conversation with a problem with the new release. I went into /boot/config.txt and remarked out the Pi4 items and rebooted and again the same problem.

You do NOT need to do that as running the initcfg.sh script does that
for you. Why not follow the wiki instructions?
https://nw-digital-radio.groups.io/g/udrc/wiki/8921

I can see the board now.
The first thing to do with a new image is:

aplay -l

to confirm that the codec has been enumerated as the documentation
says. If the codec has not been enumerated the initial config will not
work.

direwolf is having a problem and gateway is down.
Why do you think direwolf is having a problem?
Run ax25-status to see if it is running.

sudo apt-mark unhold
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade -y
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
cd
cd n7nix
git pull
cd config
./bin_refresh.sh
You ONLY need to do the above if you are updating from an older install.
From the release announcement:
To update your current image without using the new image the following
procedure will get you most of the changes.
pi@RMS-GW:~ $ aplay -l
card 1: udrc [udrc], device 0: bcm2835-i2s-tlv320aic32x4-hifi tlv320aic32x4-hifi-0 [bcm2835-i2s-tlv320aic32x4-hifi tlv320aic32x4-hifi-0]
pi@RMS-GW:~/n7nix/systemd/ax25 $ sudo ./ax25-upd
The above command is run from a systemd service which will happen at boot
time running it again from a console will cause unpredictable results.

I would not try to debug your current problem using RMS Gateway. The
symptom you have most likely has nothing to do with the Gateway. The
ax25 device is not running for some reason.

run ax25-status

Mike Lussier - AE4ML

Basil,
Long story short. I got it working myself.

Another fresh install, set alsa. I checked updates and fixed the /boot/config.txt. rebooted and Now I can see the board.. I shutdown ax25 and checked status. Then proceeded with the deviation. Stored alsa settings and started ax25 services and RMS is up and running.
